Born in Wick and raised at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains in Strathspey, the impressions of the natural world gathered in youth continue to influence my work.

Seeing painting itself as a natural process, using intuition to find harmony amid chaos; I find resolution and stillness through the ordering of colour and space.

The processes I use- whether meticulous or loose and expressive- offer a potential gateway to a flow state within which nature guides the making, rather than the mind.

The Japanese Zen term "mushin no shin" or "mind of no mind" resonates with this feeling.
